In an industry dominated by visual design, game mechanics and technology, MADLORD founder Jorge De Lellis has spent years championing another fundamental part of the player experience: sound. Through ambitious music composition, sound design and audio production, MADLORD has built a distinctive position within iGaming by treating audio not as an accompaniment, but as an essential part of how a game feels.
Thousands of new casino games compete for player attention every year. Themes become more elaborate, animations more sophisticated and gameplay increasingly polished, but the strongest experiences are often defined by something more subtle, yet profoundly powerful.
The music that establishes atmosphere before the action begins. The sound that signals anticipation. The shift in tone when a feature is triggered. The carefully designed audio cues that give every interaction weight and personality.
For Jorge De Lellis, founder of MADLORD, those moments are not finishing touches. They are part of the architecture of the game.
MADLORD specialises in music composition, sound design, voice-over and audio post-production, with extensive experience across premium online slots and game trailers.
Under De Lellis’ direction, the studio has developed a reputation for approaching iGaming audio with the ambition traditionally associated with film, console gaming and other entertainment media.
Building Worlds Through Sound
At the heart of the MADLORD approach is the belief that audio should reinforce the world a developer is attempting to create.
That means moving beyond simply producing a soundtrack that fits a theme.
Instead, music, sound effects, voice, pacing and silence can work together to establish identity, reinforce storytelling and influence the emotional rhythm of the experience.
De Lellis’ own skillset extends beyond conventional composition and audio production. Walter Scharold, former Head of Audio at Play’n GO, has previously highlighted his knowledge of programming, narrative design, animation, film and advanced audiovisual techniques, describing those additional disciplines as important to the way MADLORD approaches game sound.
That broader understanding is particularly valuable in iGaming because slot audio presents a different challenge to linear entertainment.
A film composer knows precisely when each scene will begin and end. A game governed by player interaction and random outcomes is fundamentally different. Audio has to respond dynamically while maintaining cohesion and avoiding repetition.
Scharold has previously explained that chance-based entertainment creates unusual design challenges, with music particularly well suited to helping overcome them.
For MADLORD, understanding those mechanics is just as important as understanding melody and harmony.

More Than 70 Projects With Play’n GO
One of the most significant chapters in MADLORD’s history was its work with Play’n GO.
MADLORD contributed to more than 70 Play’n GO projects, spanning premium online slots and promotional trailers. Its involvement encompassed music composition, sound design, voice-over, trailer audio post-production and consultancy around new approaches to audio production and sound integration. MADLORD’s website currently documents the 70-plus figure and the range of services delivered during the relationship.
The collaboration produced an exceptionally varied body of work.
One standout example was Golden Osiris, an Egyptian-themed premium slot that required a suitably cinematic identity. The challenge given to MADLORD was to create an Egyptian-themed soundtrack capable of surpassing all competing Egyptian-themed productions within the sector.
The resulting project demonstrates the studio’s preference for treating a game as a complete entertainment world rather than a collection of isolated audio assets.
Other projects underline MADLORD’s versatility. For Puebla Parade, the team created an original Spanish-language song and brought in vocalists and vihuela performers to establish a more authentic Mexican musical character. Wild Class drew on the language of 1980s synth-pop, while Wild Trigger called for the influence of the Spaghetti Western. Titles including Rise of Gods, Shamrock Miner and Highway Legends demanded entirely different tonal identities.
Then there was Gerard’s Gambit, for which MADLORD created more than 18 minutes of original music and sound effects, described in its published material as the largest custom audio production it had created for Play’n GO at that point. The diversity is important.
Rather than developing a single recognisable house style and applying it repeatedly, MADLORD adapts its sound to the creative identity of each game. Brand. And vision.

A Landmark Body of Work With Rabcat
Another significant period in MADLORD’s development came through its work with Rabcat.
MADLORD contributed to more than 40 Rabcat games, encompassing music composition, sound design and audio post-production across premium slots, video poker, trailers and teasers. That figure is also reflected in MADLORD’s current project and client material.
Among the most notable was Castle Builder I.
Nominated for Game of the Year at the 2013 EGR Awards, the title represented an unusually ambitious slot production for its era. MADLORD provided the complete audio production, including original music, sound effects, win sounds and wider sound design.
The project ultimately contained more than 26 minutes of original music and over 30 minutes of total audio. MADLORD describes it as the largest custom-made orchestral soundtrack production for an online slot at the time, when a slot would typically contain no more than around 2.5 minutes of audio in total. According to MADLORD, that record remains unbroken in 2026.
That scale says a great deal about De Lellis’ attitude towards going “far beyond the ordinary”. It was not simply a question of adding more music, but of exploring how far the conventions of gambling-game audio could be pushed when a project justified that level of ambition.
Space Adventure presented a very different challenge, pairing cartoon science fiction with high-energy gameplay and requiring a soundtrack capable of moving across genres.
Meanwhile, Lucky Dolphin demanded an entirely different emotional language. MADLORD hired an operatic mezzo-soprano to give the experience greater depth and grandeur, with orchestral brass, woodwinds and voice used to build the dramatic climax of its underwater world.
These projects illustrate an important distinction in MADLORD’s work. The goal is not simply to create technically strong audio. It is to understand the emotional identity of the game first and then build a soundtrack around it.
A soundtrack that propels players deeper into the experience. A soundtrack that takes players where images and words cannot reach.
From Audio Supplier to Creative Partner
The breadth of MADLORD’s involvement also reflects an evolution that has taken place across game development more generally.
Audio specialists can contribute much earlier in the creative process. When sound is considered alongside visual design, narrative, mechanics and animation from the outset, it has greater potential to influence the finished experience rather than simply complement it.
Former Play’n GO Head of Audio Walter Scharold has described MADLORD as bringing an “outside-the-box approach” to slot audio, while highlighting De Lellis’ versatility and understanding of advanced non-linear music design and implementation.
That type of involvement moves MADLORD beyond the traditional definition of a third-party audio supplier.
Its more recent work has included PRINT Studios’ Darkness, released in 2023, an unusually dark and immersive slot built around a horror aesthetic and a deliberately intense player experience. PRINT Studios describes the title as a game designed to draw players progressively into its horrifying finale, making audio an especially important part of the atmosphere.
Developers are under pressure to create games capable of establishing a recognisable identity almost immediately. Strong audio can contribute significantly to that identity.
A distinctive piece of music, an unusual voice performance or a memorable sound effect can become inseparable from a game in much the same way that visual characters or animations can.

Pushing Slot Audio Far Beyond the Ordinary
De Lellis’ ambitions for MADLORD have never been confined to individual productions.
Across two decades of producing audio for gambling games, beginning in 2006, he has repeatedly explored how emerging production techniques can be applied to the sector. The MADLORD brand itself began to emerge around 2010, before MADLORD was formally established as a company entity in 2016.
Milestones documented by MADLORD include experimentation with true-stereo (incorporating principles of binaural audio without requiring headphone playback) in slot soundtracks in 2008, programmable multi-layer background playlists in bingo games in 2009 and music-synchronised win sounds in 2014.
More recent experimentation has extended into ASMR voice-over, binaural audio and ambisonics, with MADLORD continuing to investigate how spatial and psychologically immersive audio techniques can expand what is possible within online gaming.
The underlying idea is consistent: audio within gambling entertainment does not have to remain within established conventions. That willingness to experiment mirrors the wider evolution of iGaming.
Online casino content increasingly competes not only against other casino games but against mobile games, streaming platforms, social media and countless other forms of digital entertainment for the user’s attention.
For developers, that raises expectations around production value. Visual quality alone is no longer enough. Music, storytelling, animation, sound design, characters and user experience increasingly need to work as a coherent whole.
MADLORD’s portfolio offers an example of what can happen when audio is given comparable creative importance.

Commanding the Madness of Creation
The deliberately theatrical identity surrounding MADLORD is ultimately an extension of De Lellis himself.
The name grew from the idea that creativity requires a degree of controlled madness: the willingness to pursue unusual ideas, paired with the discipline required to transform them into finished work.
It is a philosophy reflected in a portfolio that moves between Egyptian mythology, Mexican music, fantasy worlds, cyberpunk soundscapes, Westerns, ocean adventures and cinematic orchestral scores.
Behind the distinctive branding, however, is a serious proposition. MADLORD wants game developers to think differently about what audio can contribute to their products.
De Lellis has described his long-term ambition as turning MADLORD into one of the world’s most emblematic audio-production brands while elevating gambling audio to the standards expected from the wider entertainment industry. It is an ambition that reflects the direction in which iGaming itself continues to move.
As online casino games become richer, more cinematic and more sophisticated, the divide between traditional gambling content and mainstream digital entertainment continues to narrow.
MADLORD has spent over a decade working within that space.
And if Jorge De Lellis has his way, the soundtrack to the next generation of iGaming will be every bit as important as what appears on the screen.
