Octoplay has marked the opening of Alberta’s newly regulated iGaming market with its largest coordinated market launch to date, going live simultaneously with seven major operators across the Canadian province.
The game studio launched with BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings, Betty, Rush Street Interactive, Penn and bet365 on the first day of Alberta’s regulated market, significantly expanding its North American footprint.
The move makes Alberta Octoplay’s twentieth regulated market globally and its fourth active regulated market in North America, following previous launches in Ontario, New Jersey and Michigan.
For the supplier, the launch represents a major step in a rapid international expansion strategy focused heavily on regulated jurisdictions and partnerships with tier-one operators.
A Major North American Expansion
Octoplay had been preparing for its Alberta debut well ahead of the market opening.
The company secured conditional approval from the Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission earlier in 2026, positioning it among the first studios ready to supply content when the province opened its regulated market.
That preparation allowed Octoplay to launch across seven operators simultaneously rather than entering the market through a single partner.
CEO Ralitsa Georgieva said the scale of the launch reflected the relationships Octoplay had already built with major operators across other regulated markets.
The Alberta debut includes several existing partners, including BetMGM, FanDuel, Rush Street Interactive, bet365, Betty and DraftKings, while Penn represents a new tier-one partnership for the studio.
“Launching with seven major operators on day one gives Octoplay immediate scale in Canada’s newest regulated iGaming market.”
Building Momentum Across Regulated Markets
Octoplay’s expansion in Alberta follows a period of sustained growth across Europe and North America.
The studio has already established operations in regulated markets including the UK, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, Brazil and multiple US states.
Its North American expansion began in Ontario in 2023 before extending into the United States through New Jersey and Michigan.
The company has also secured additional regulatory approvals in jurisdictions including Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and West Virginia, creating further opportunities for future launches.
That growing regulatory footprint has become an increasingly important part of Octoplay’s commercial strategy as operators seek suppliers capable of supporting content across multiple markets.
Tier-One Partnerships Drive Growth
Octoplay’s strategy has placed particular emphasis on partnerships with major international operators.
The studio has previously expanded its relationship with Entain across multiple jurisdictions, while integrations with brands including bet365 and Superbet have helped extend its reach across Europe and the Americas.
In the UK, Octoplay went live with bet365 earlier in 2026, joining an operator network that already included established brands such as BetVictor and Virgin Bet.
More recently, the studio expanded its European presence through a launch with Napoleon in Belgium, part of Superbet Group.
The Alberta launch builds on that model by bringing several existing operator relationships into a newly regulated market simultaneously.
Regulated Markets Create New Opportunities
Alberta’s regulated market represents another important development in the continuing evolution of online gaming in Canada.
Ontario’s move to a competitive regulated iGaming framework demonstrated the potential for provinces to introduce multi-operator models alongside existing gaming structures.
For suppliers such as Octoplay, new regulated jurisdictions provide opportunities to expand distribution while working within clearly defined licensing frameworks.
The ability to enter Alberta with seven operators immediately gives Octoplay significant initial reach and reduces the typical ramp-up period associated with launching in a new jurisdiction.
It also demonstrates how suppliers with broad licensing portfolios can increasingly scale content across several markets through existing operator relationships.
A Milestone in Octoplay’s Global Strategy
With Alberta now live, Octoplay operates across 20 regulated markets worldwide.
The studio’s expansion has been driven by a combination of regulatory approvals, growing operator partnerships and a strategy centred on entering new jurisdictions early.
Launching alongside seven major operators on the first day of Alberta’s regulated market represents one of the clearest examples of that strategy so far.
As more jurisdictions move towards regulated online gaming frameworks, suppliers capable of combining content, compliance and rapid market deployment are likely to play an increasingly important role in the sector’s continued expansion.
For Octoplay, Alberta provides another significant foothold in North America and a platform for further growth across one of the world’s most closely watched iGaming regions.
